"Master of the cruel one-liner"--Evening Standard
"His eye for absurdity is as sharp as his suits"--Guardian

Critically acclaimed comedian Frankie Boyle presents his hotly-anticipated first live stand-up DVD. Recorded live during his sell-out shows at London’s Hackney Empire, Frankie’s unique brand of observational comedy and brutal but perfectly constructed one-liners prove he is one of the best gag writers in the business.

As the stand out act on top-rated satirical comedy show Mock The Week, the sharp-suited Scotsman shows us just a slice of what he’s capable of. In this DVD he unleashes his razor-sharp wit upon the audience with jokes that are too near the knuckle for TV, constantly venturing onto thin ice with outrageous jibes that could be utterly offensive if not delivered with equal measures of visceral cheek and sarcasm, demonstrating the full force of his comic prowess.

Extras:

F**K You Scotland – behind the scenes tour diary

Synopsis
MOCK THE WEEK'S resident panel pundit Frankie Boyle graces London's Hackney Empire stage in this, his first live stand-up DVD. Frankie's humour may be darker than dark at times, but his wit is so quick you'll barely have time to chastise yourself before laughing at his deliciously un-PC wisecracks.

Only buy if you don't watch mock the week3
Frankie's great, sharp, cutting, but this dvd seems 4 years to late. Generally TV shows are for recycled material, and stand up is fresh, here its the other way around. Funny but not new

What a shame2
Having seen Frankie, like most people, on Mock the Week, I had this on pre-order ready for its release. I sat down to watch it, beer in hand, with my wife, expecting to be crying with laughter and dreading the moment it finished.

Oh dear.

Yes, it's good, and yes it's funny, but it's a long way short of what I was expecting. It was a long and disconnected set of gags that lacked any continuity, other than verbal attacks on the audience. And attacks they were, generally little more than abuse. He clearly gets riled by one heckle about spec-savers. Not good form.

I watched the second half waiting for it to finish.

I'm seeing him live on 17/12. I hope it's better than the DVD.

99% reused = 100% exaggeration5
Having waited impatiently for the release of this DVD since Amazon listed it, i have to say this is everything it promised to be.

Frankie Boyle's humour isn't to everyone's taste, not so much near the knuckle as dead on it; crude, rude and offensively hilarious.

It's true that you've heard quite a number of the jokes before, but 90-99% of them? Come on. Each of the old favourites we've all heard before from Mock the Week was sandwiched between new, extremely funny observations and quick witted remarks. I'm the sort of sad freak who's watched all the Mock the Week episodes and relived them all on Dave. (So glad i wasn't sitting front row for any of Frankie's shows, he'd have had a field day taking the P out of me, i'm sure!) So if he's said the jokes before, i've heard 'em. And you know what? It's still bust a gut funny. Afterall, you go and see the bands you like live and buy their cds to hear your favourite songs, why isn't it the same for comedians and jokes?

In conclusion, this is an absolute must for Frankie fans, but if you'll be disappointed by anything less than a whole new act of jokes, then maybe have a re-think before clicking 'add to basket'.
